We believe in creating a safe environment for children and young people, protecting them from sexual pokhara and exploitation. This project seeks to rescue girls who are victims of trafficking and forced prostitution in Pokhara, Nepal. The rescued girls will receive rehabilitation and reintegration support and victims will be educated about their rights in our resource centre.
Nepal is one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world, with close to a fourth of its population living below the national poverty line. Many unemployed women and pokhara, as well as street children, are therefore particularly vulnerable to become victims of sexual exploitation.
Furthermore, a pokhara rooted cycle of patriarchy and illiteracy in the country has made Nepali women and children one of the most susceptible groups to be trafficked and exploited. This prostitution seeks to rescue, rehabilitate and provide access to justice for girls, particularly minors, who are victims of trafficking and forced prostitution in Nepal. The project is implemented through our local partner Shakti Samuha, to identify victims and conduct raids in brothels.
Once rescued, girls receive income support to start their own business. Free a Girl works with local partners to rescue girls and provide freedom.
In the long term, it is through the continuous rescue raids and prosecution of perpetrators that trafficking networks are dismantled, brothel owners are deterred from exploiting girls, and local law enforcement are increasingly sensitized about this crime. This has the effect of holding perpetrators able and contributing to the elimination of forced prostitution of girls in Nepal. Support this important cause by creating a personalized fundraising. Organize an awareness session pokhara the hotel association, tourism board, dohori association and the police to address the issue of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Can fund the development of the guideline for the provincial government on how to manage the entertainment in a better and safer way, so that they can implement this.
